Dr. John Waters
Dentist
Raised in Iva, SC, Dr. Waters grew up in Anderson County and graduated from Crescent High School. From there, he went to Clemson University and graduated with honors with a BS in civil engineering. After working for a few years as an engineer, he decided to make a career change to help others on a more personal level. After much thought and mentoring from his childhood dentist, he decided that dentistry was the career he was looking for.
Dr. Waters then attended MUSC’s College of Dental Medicine, where he was inducted into the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He graduated from MUSC in 2010 and decided to return to upstate South Carolina with his wife, Ashley, to raise their growing family.
He purchased the practice of Dr. Andrew Adams in 2011 and has been practicing at Waters Family Dentistry ever since. With over 14 years of experience in private practice, he enjoys establishing long-lasting relationships with patients. He takes pride in explaining patients’ options in terms that help them make good, informed decisions. He stays on top of the latest dental technologies and has completed hundreds of hours of continuing dental education.
Dr. Waters and Ashley are blessed with three boys who are their pride and joy and are, of course, growing up too fast! When he is not at the office, you can find Dr. Waters supporting his boys’ various activities. He also enjoys strumming guitar and cheering for the Clemson Tigers.
Amanda
Dental Assistant
Amanda has been a dedicated dental assistant at Waters Family Dentistry since 2012, when Dr. John Waters brought her on board fresh out of the expanded duty dental assisting program at Tri-County Technical School.
Over the years, Amanda has honed her skills, taking on everything from assisting with procedures like crowns and extractions to making in-house retainers and nightguards. She’s also the go-to person for lab reports and x-rays. Amanda loves working within a team that feels like family. Helping patients feel more confident and comfortable, especially those overcoming a fear of the dentist, makes her job rewarding.
Outside of work, Amanda’s life is full of family and fun. With a youngster at home, spare time is rare, but when she gets a chance, she loves fishing and tackling car repairs. Yes, she can change her own oil, brakes, spark plugs, and more!
Anita
Dental Assistant
Anita has been a dental assistant since 1990 and joined Dr. Waters's team in August 2024. She focuses on keeping things smooth and stress-free during procedures and making sure patients feel well cared for and comfortable. Anita loves helping patients achieve confident smiles and knows the power of a friendly, supportive team to make the dental chair a little less intimidating.
Outside of the dental office, Anita’s life is full of family, fun, and fandom. She enjoys camping, spending time on the lake with her husband, and spoiling her grandson—while eagerly awaiting her granddaughter’s arrival in January 2025. A Gamecock superfan and a family chef, Anita brings her passion and warmth everywhere she goes!
Heather
Hygienist
Heather has been brightening smiles and helping patients feel at ease since graduating from Greenville Technical College in 2002. She joined Waters Family Dentistry in 2021 and brings her expertise in cleanings, x-rays, and sealants to every appointment. Heather loves being part of a fun, supportive team and enjoys making patients feel comfortable while helping them improve their smiles. Seeing patients leave with some extra confidence is the best part of the job for her.
Heather channels her energy outside of work into cleaning, organizing, working out, and shopping. She’s also a proud mom to three daughters—including a set of twins—and treasures spending time with her girls.
Anna
Hygienist
Anna Wright has been helping patients achieve healthier, happier smiles since starting her dental hygiene career in 2008. A graduate of Greenville Technical College, Anna loves connecting with patients, learning about their lives, and empowering them to improve their oral health. Her passion for good oral hygiene stems from her belief in the importance of a confident smile. Anna’s warm approach makes every visit feel personal and welcoming.
Anna enjoys reading, traveling, and staying active outside the office, especially in group fitness classes with her best friends.
Bayleigh
Financial Coordinator
Bayleigh has been keeping things running smoothly at Waters Family Dentistry since 2019. As Financial Coordinator, she’s the go-to person for insurance, billing, and payment plans. With over a decade of insurance experience and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Walford University, Bayleigh knows her stuff, and she makes sure patients feel confident and comfortable every step of the way.
She loves the close-knit, family vibe of the practice and the connections she’s built with patients and coworkers. Helping patients navigate their financial options while keeping things stress-free is her specialty.
When she’s not at work, Bayleigh’s creative energy takes over. She’s often remodeling her home, crafting, or making TikToks to show off her before-and-after DIY projects. She's also a proud wife and mom of two kids and an Aussiedoodle named Cooper.
Kelsey
Patient Coordinator
Kelsey is the newest member of the Waters Family Dentistry team. As the patient coordinator, she is the first face you will see when you walk into the office. With over 12 years of exceptional customer service and an Associate’s in medical office administration, Kelsey is able to multi-task to keep the front desk running smoothly.
When Kelsey is not at work, she is busy spending time with her husband and two kids, while also taking care of their farm and 13 cows. Although her free time is sparse, Kelsey loves cheering on her son at his football games when she is not working or at the farm. Her favorite season is summer when she gets to relax at the lake or by the pool!
I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Waters and his team! I woke up this morning with a chipped tooth and in a panic as I have not established with a new dentist yet. When I called his office as soon as they opened the front desk staff was extremely sweet and helpful with getting me in as soon as possible. As someone who has TMJ and has had bad experiences with dentists in the past, I showed up nervous as expected when going to a new dentist. From the front desk staff to the dental assistant, Anita, to Dr. Waters, they were all amazing and extremely understanding when I told them I was anxious. Anita spent time talking with me to help calm my nerves and assured me that if at any point I was having discomfort we could take a break. Dr. Waters did a phenomenal job fixing my chipped tooth and talking me through what he was doing. I could not have asked for a better dental office to become a patient at! Highly, highly recommend Dr. Waters and his team!
